Outreach Materials

Outreach is an important part of any good Safe Routes to School program. Students will walk and bike more if they have advocates for them to do so. Outreach to parents and administrators, to inform them and get them involved can help the program grow and gain the support it needs to be successful at your school.

Safe Routes to School Fact Sheet/Outreach (PDF) A general SF Safe Routes to School Outreach piece that includes information on the roles and responsibilities of the Coalition and the SFMTA School Area Safety Program.

Identifying Barriers and Developing Solutions to Provide a Safer Route to School (PDF) This double-sided one pager can be used for targeted outreach to Safe Routes to School sites and other schools that request or require walk audits.  This can be sent (or emailed) to school principals when walk audits are scheduled to let the schools know the process for a walking audit and get them engaged so that there is robust participation from the school (administration, teachers and parents) from the very beginning.
